Anna Christoforou
Professional cooking has been in Anna’s family for three generations. Her family came from Larnaca, Cyprus, and after emigrating to the UK in the 1960s, her grandparents worked hard to keep their culture and traditions alive.
Anna is passionate about Cypriot and Greek food. She first cooked for friends and family. Later, after competing in MasterChef 2017, she began tutoring in Greek and Cypriot cookery. She has also run pop-up restaurants and supper clubs in Shropshire and London.
Anna learned to cook from the strong women in her family. From a young age, she helped her mother, aunts, and grandmother in the kitchen. In Cypriot culture, food is meant to be shared. It brings families together and helps keep traditions alive. Passing down recipes is essential. When a Cypriot shares food with you, they are sharing a part of their heart.
Cypriot cuisine has been shaped by more than 5,000 years of invasion and cultural influence. As a result, the food blends Greek, North African, Turkish, and Arabic flavours. Cyprus sits between three continents, so the cuisine uses ingredients from all over the world. Expect earthy, rich flavours with mint, cinnamon, lemon, bay, honey, and floral notes. Cypriot food is a unique and delicious journey through history
