Amarpal Harrar

Growing up in India and moving to the UK when he was 7 years old, Amarpal Harrar vividly recalls the sights and scents from vendor stalls selling delicious authentic street food such as samosas, pakoras and tikis in his birthplace of the Punjab. His love for food started at the age of 5 when he used to go into the fields, gather wheat, and then thresh it to separate the seeds. He would take the seeds to his mom who would mill the seeds to get the flour to make chapattis.

Further north in Shimla there was more refined and sophisticated dishes on offer but they all had one thing in common…They were prepared using the freshest ingredients and made with passion.

Inspired by his mom he’s always followed her golden rule of Indian cooking – “Using the right amount of spice, in the right combination at the right time leads to foods that are authentic”.

Amarpal is an experienced and inspirational chef and the founder of iCook Indian. He’s an old hand at running Indian cookery courses and team building sessions for the likes of M&C Saatchi, Chevron and KPMG and nothing gives him greater pleasure than to see the personal satisfaction of his students when they tuck into home-style Indian food they’ve have created from scratch.

We’re proud to bring you a great selection of Amarpal’s traditional Indian cookery courses at Perrys Field to Fork.
